  • Dealing with the Big Blinds range

Online MTT. No ICM implications we are far from the bubble. Hero ~17,000 Villian ~14,000

    Blinds 225/450 with a $55 Ante

Preflop – Hero in UTG2 with AhTh raises to 900. Folds to BB who calls

Flop 3sAd5s – Villain checks Hero bets $1200, just shy of half pot. My thought on the sizing was BB has a lot of draws on this board that I want to charge but I don’t think going larger pushes any of them out of the pot. Maybe this size is too big?

Turn 3h – pairs the board. Goes Check Check. 3 obviously favors the big blind, perhaps a missed opportunity to push out some gut shots? I didn’t really consider betting but perhaps that’s a mistake.

River Qs – the most obvious draw comes home and the Villain bets half pot ($2,432). Hero has top pair. Hard to see what value I’m beating here, maybe a Q2, Q4 that floated the flop with a gut shot and hit a pair on the river? Feels like that would check a lot. I discarded a raise and debated between call and fold. Given the odds I was getting I didn’t think there is much else to do.

Wondering if anyone else has thoughts on the hand.
