  • Hand History from APO 3.3K Main Event Day 1/2/3

Posted by dingo on April 15, 2024 at 7:09 pm

    Hi Team,

Posting 3 hand histories here with a question specifically about each one.

    Hand 1

    Effective stack 85,000 (ours), Day 1F, 100/X

    Blinds: 1000/2000/2000 (BBA)

    Big Blind, 1010 dh

Folds to Villian (CO) who bets 2.2BB (4400)

    Hero calls 2.2BB (4400)

    FLOP

    Q58 shc

    Hero checks

    Villian bets 1.6BB (3600)

    Hero calls 1.6BB (3600)

    TURN

    Q h (Q58Q shch)

    Hero checks

    Villian checks

    RIVER

    5 d (Q58Q5 shchd)

    Hero bets 2.5BB (5000)

    Villian tank folds

Question: You play a high % of hands from big blind; 10s is a very strong hand and normally I would 3bet here almost 100% but recently have been trying to balance my big blidn calling range instead of just 3betting my premium hands out of the blinds especially heads up; is compelting here fine?

Additionally is block betting the river here fine to do or would it have been better to check and bluff catch here with 10s?

    Hand 2

    Effective Stack Villian (1.5M)

Blinds: 3000/6000/6000 (BBA), Day 2, 45 remain ITM

Folds to Hero (HJ) (109 ss) who bets 2BB (12,000)

    Villian (BB) calls 2BB (12,000)

    FLOP

    KJ6 ssh

    Villian X

    Hero bets 1 BB (6000)

    Villian X/r 6BB (36,000)

    Hero calls 6BB (36,000)

    TURN

    8 d (KJ68 sshd)

    Villian bets 13BB (78,000)

    Hero calls 13 BB (78,000)

    RIVER

    Q s (KJ68Q sshds)

    Villian X

    Hero bets 33BB (200,000)

Villian tank calls and shows K6 cd.

    Hero wins with straight flush.

Question: Wasn’t sure on river sizing so went bigger, but knowing now he flopped 2 pair I feel I might of been able to go even bigger here? Was just wondering how people would of played this run out.

    Hand3

    Effective stack Hero (8.6M)

    Day 3 (FT), 4 Remain

    PAYOUTS

    1st $340,000

    2nd $200,000

    3rd $115,000

    4th $85,000

    Villian (Chip leader 14M) (Gun1) bets 2BB (200,000)

    Hero (SB) (AA hd) 3bets 5BB (500,000)

    Villian calls

    FLOP

    J87 hdc

    Hero X

    Villian bets 3.75BB (375,000)

    Hero X/r 11BB (1.1M)

    Villian 3bet 25BB (2.5M)

    Hero All in 81BB (8.14M)

    Villian Tank folds

Coverage shows Villian was out of line and had red 6s, though I have been tangling with chip leader as I felt I had an edge post flop on her and she might have thought here I was acutally being out of line.

Question: I knew I wanted to check raise but after she clicks me back or just over a click I didn’t know what to do; but I felt if my opponent had Jacks I would of got shoved on pre and middling pairs that have flopped a set would want to keep my bluffs in; I felt with ICM a shove is good but I dont understand ICM enough to say what is good or not here, let me know what you would of done.

    Hand One:

    Q1

Without a specific read on the CO I would normally 3 bet ~8bb here. Your in-game reads have to take priority over GTO approved.

    Q2

You can go either way on the river. If I feel this opponent can bluff at this I would bluff catch.

    Hand Two:

We are very deep here. I would open a to 2.5BB (15,000)

After a big blind check on the flop I like a bigger bet here. I would go 20,000-25000. I don’t want to get check-raised off of my equity. We are not as likely to face a check-raise with a bigger Cbet. We don’t mind a fold from random Jacks and sixes. Sets, Kings, and flush draws are not folding. If I faced a check-raise I would call and see a turn.

Too many outs to fold this turn. We improved from a gut shot to an OESD to go with our FD.

    Q1

I would have played the river the same. I thought your bet size on the river was perfect.

    Hand Three:

    Q1

This is tough. Need to consider the range you would call vs the range you would jam. I always hear Jim’s voice telling me by shoving you allow your opponent to play perfectly.

Hand 1: I’d lean towards a 3bet here. Mostly because when we don’t opponent can barrel a lot of turns and rivers and we are stuck trying to bluff catch. As played, definitely betting river as the board ran out with two pair and we can easily get called by an Ace.

Hand 2: On the flop the board texture is pretty wet so I like a continuation bet that’s a little on the bigger side. Given where we are at in the tournament, we can make it a bit smaller. But then again both the opponent and we are incredibly deep stacked. So I’d go 2.5-3 BBs. When raised with this deep of effective stacks, I’m never folding. Same on the turn when we gain equity. On river I’m going huge targeting his two pair/sets/A-high flushes that will have a tough time folding. I like the clear 200k bet, but probably would have gone bigger to 300k personally.

Hand 3: This depends so much on ICM. You say opponent has 140 BBs and we have 86 BBs, but what about the other 2? If they have <20 BBs then we simply cannot bust before them and changes how we would play this. If they are deeper then it loses the impact that ICM has over us. As played, these boards generally connect well with our opponents calling range, but they lack a lot of two pair combos. Given their heavy weighting towards single pair combos, I like betting flop and then continuing the aggression on future streets. As played, I’m never putting in the 4bet all in. I just can’t imagine what opponent would call us with besides sets, therefore we let them play perfectly vs us. However, we do run the risk of future runouts making it more dicey for us to continue. I would have called the 3bet and the check/called the turn and river.
