Using HUD stats
I’ve been playing some micro stakes cash lately. I play six max on ACR. Had an interesting hand come up where my actions were based strictly on the HUD stats of my opponent. The Villain 3 put in the forced blind and I opened from CO to 3.5BB with KQs. The BN 3Bets to 10BB and it folds back to me and I decide to call. The optimal play here is to call a BN 3-bet with my specific hand. Against Villain 1 in this scenario I would fold. Villain 1 is 3-betting a very tight range which consists of AA, KK, and QQ. Villain 5 on the other hand is 3-Betting a very wide range which consists of AA-44,AKs-A3s,KQs-K8s,QJs-Q9s,JTs-J9s,T9s,AKo-ATo,KQo-KTo,QJo-QTo.
I choose to stay in flow and check on a flop of K46r. Villain 5 bets 16.5BB into a pot of 23.5BB and I call. The turn brings the 5h putting two hearts on the board. I check again and Villain 5 bets 40.5BB into the 56.5BB pot I call again. The River is the 2h putting a possible flush on board and I check with the intention of calling any bet. Villain 5 checks back and we win the 137.5BB pot. My read on Villain 5 is that he is a maniac playing marginal hands and trying to bet his opponents out of the pot. This is the kind of player you want to see at your cash game tables. Pay attention to your HUD stats and stay away from players like Villain 1 and target players like Villain 5.
