  • You play it first. SB RFI 40BB

Hand ranging exercise. I am interested in how you think through this, and what your ranges look like.
I’m Studying SB RFI this morning (first pic). I found it is easier to sort by stack size, so I am studying the same general situations at the same time. Effective stack size would be better, but PT4 doesn’t have a column for it.
I ran across this hand. Please go through pics first and think through this yourself before reading on. What tools do you use, and what results do you come up with?
    I’ll wait for you here.

Pre. 84 suited 40BB effective is a 3.5X open in theory (last pic). It gives us board coverage and plays well enough when called, which most villains don’t do enough.
I think I decided to limp since our opponent has a 12% 3bet. If we raise and get 3bet, we need to fold.

Can we call if we limp and get raised? What size is too much?
Opponents raise over limper stat from the BB is 1/4, so meh. This is probably why it is better to act and RFI rather than react and have to make tough decisions.

Flop comes KhQh4d. In game, I thought that I would raise most of my kings and strong queens preflop, while opponent would raise less of them since he could close the action by checking.
So, who has the range advantage? If I have the range advantage, I should bet often.
Who has the nut advantage? I think both of us would have raised our sets and KQ preflop. K4 and Q4? We probably both have them. I think we are pretty close, advantage going to opponent with flush draws. If we have the nut advantage, we should bet large, if we don’t but have range advantage, we can try a blocker bet.
No range advantage, no nut advantage. Check.
I unblock the flush draw bluffs and only beat Ace high, so I decide to check/call up to 60% pot. Is this reasonable? Do we call any bet here blind vs blind with bottom pair? Thankfully he checks behind, strengthening my bottom pair a touch. What hands do you take out of his range since he didn’t bet?

The turn brings the 3rd heart. I have a pair of 4s bad kicker on a 3 broadway, 3 flush board. I give up.
He can bet range on this card since I have shown zero interest in this hand.
My question is do you ever think I should call just for that reason?
I need to call 1 to win 5, meaning I need 20% equity.
Against an open limp, BB is playing 100% of hands.
He should be Raising preflop a lot of his offsuit Kings, Queens, and Tens, and checking back about 60% of hands. How many of them am I still beating?
It seems thin to me, but against a 36/20/12, I don’t know.
