I have two spots where I will occasionally split my range and open limp. In both cases, stack size matters. I like these more divergent strategies when we’re deeper, 50+ bb deep.

When that deep I will limp a large portion of my range from the SB. I will fold complete trash and raise a mix of some stronger holdings (usually based on a suit I predetermine) and some speculative ones Most of my range is limping.

The other spot where I occasionally limp is when I am deep and directly UTG and there are 3 or more shove stacks (<15bb) at the table. I’m splitting this limp between extreme value (AA-QQ) and a few hands I don’t mind seeing multiway (say J10s). I am doing this to induce more action, and if it sometimes goes five way, so be it. This does sacrifice the strength of a strong pair sometimes, but so many people are trained to attack limpers these days that I have scooped massive multiway all-in pots that otherwise might have carefully called or folded to my open. I especially love this tactic right after the bubble bursts and people are in phew, time to double up or go home mode. I am happy to help them accomplish the later.
