After a limp and a raise, I think pocket fives could be played a variety of ways:

    – fold

    – call

    – raise

All the options depend on stack size and an estimation of their range. If you late reg, the avg stack is likely still close to 3000. If the blinds are 50/100 then a raise is likely between 300-400 chips with a pot size of about (50+100+100+350) = 600 chips. You would be calling 350 to win 600. The direct pot odds to chase the set are not there. You would need implied odds to chase, expecting to earn more money if you do hit. I think you have some implied odds but beware, your 55 is weak. Worst case, there are 9 over-cards to pocket 55 that can also flop a set. With people behind and without a strong hand, I fold to the original raise. I might call if I’m on the button and only a few players left to act.

The limp/jam is rare. In my mind, this play is done by a hand can play both offense and defense on all 5 cards.
