Kim Kilroy* aptly named Killer K by RunitUp Reno 2019 (runitup 1:22:55 mark)  is excited to be the first female member of the RECing crew. A retired Veterinarian who lives in a small town north of Toronto Canada with her husband and Bernese Mountain Dog. Card and board games have always been a part of her  life, and she played poker around the kitchen table for pennies as a kid. When her three daughters started to leave home, she needed another focus and re-discovered poker.

The Family

In 2010, she started playing in bar leagues (WPTAPL) and soon became consumed by the game, devouring books, training videos and playing most days. Her early passion for learning the game continues to this day and her regular routine involves daily poker study which she believes is necessary to be successful as the game of poker continues to grow and evolve.

Before Covid Kim travelled the world playing poker, meeting new friends and continuing her poker education. She usually went on at least one poker trip a month and some of her favorite places include: Playground Poker in Montreal, PCA in Bahamas, Pokerstars Championship Prague, Irish Poker Open in Dublin, RunitUp Reno, Poker Cruises and WSOP in Vegas.

Meeting Mike

She never set out to become a professional poker player, but intended to be a serious recreational player competing at mid stakes (and sometimes big stakes in main events through satellites) and earning enough to pay for her travels. So far it’s been a fantastic poker adventure and her successes are listed on Hendon Mob

She prefers playing live but winning packages online to live events has been really exciting, including all expense paid trips to poker events in Montreal (spending time with Mike Sexton celebrating the satellite  winners), PCA Bahamas, Prague, and of course WSOP (having won three satellites to the Main Event).

Hamming it up in Prague with her PFF

These events provided a tremendous opportunity to play with many professional players from around the world.  Her cashes at these events have been numerous and have provided her with the ability to use poker winnings to fund her next adventure.  She is very much looking forward to getting back to travelling the world and playing poker.

Annual Women’s WSOP Warm up Workshop at KK’s cottage

She believes RecPoker has been a lifesaver for her since COVID.  It provided the perfect opportunity to join home games and continue her studies during the lockdown. Not only has she been playing daily, but also making social connections which she knows is something we are all missing. She loves the study groups, forums and especially the OPaH.  By joining the RECing crew, she hopes to continue to make connections and will encourage more women to play both live and online.

Kim is available for hand history reviews and private coaching for those wanting to take a bigger dip into the live scene. You can connect with Kim @PetVet at rec.poker or by email at PetVet@rec.poker or on Twitter @petvet_33
