Posted by chappo on April 24, 2021 at 11:40 pm

    So….

    Talk to me peeps.

    Live tourney.

    $180 buy in.

Full stack – I have been at the table 4 hands and the blinds are 200 400.

    Stacks well over 60k each.

I have no history with either of the players, saw a few regulars when I arrived and was welcomed by the TD, but I have no history with any player on the table that am aware of.

    I am in the SB.

    UTG limps

    Cut off opens to 3x.

I flat in the SB with 55.

Hoping that UTG will come along for the ride.

    BB folds,

    UTG flats.

    3 handed to the flop.

    Flop – Q 8 5 rainbow.

Pot at this point is 4,000

    I check my set.

    UTG leads out for 2,000

    Cutoff flats.

    I check raise to 6,000

    Pot at this point 18,000

UTG tank folds (find out later AQ)

Cut off thinks for a second and flats.

    Turn 10 no FD

I lead out for 10k – I’ve got the initiative

    Cut off jams.

    Can you call this?

So spoiler alert – he had 88 and flopped a set.

So we were set over set.

and i was on the wrong end of it.

I was thinking that they guy may have been over playing 2 pair, or top top.

Odds of set over set are just so big!

Being so deep can you fold or given you’ve got the set do you just get it in and say – if you’ve got it mate – good on you and see you next week!
