Home Game Changes

There are some changes coming to the RecPoker Home Games starting in September 2023. The reason these changes are being made is so we can focus our resources to make sure RecPoker remains able to provide great value for recreational poker players for many years to come. As most of you know, we are a largely volunteer-based organization, and most of what we do here is free. As our free Home Games became more and more popular, we eventually had to decide between either 1) having fewer of them, or 2) charging people something to play in them. After much discussion, we all agreed that we wanted to keep them free for everyone to enjoy, so we are discontinuing the three weekly tournaments that consistently got the fewest number of players.

To that end, there will no longer be tournaments on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, and the Mixed Practice events will now take place on the third, fourth and fifth Wednesdays of each Month. So – there will still be nightly tournaments on Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, as well as the two daytime ‘international’ Saturday tourneys, which combined with the practice mixed games make for an average of between 6-7 every week. The monthly Tournament of Champions, the quarterly Heads-Up matches, the end-of-year Championships and the annual Go For The Gold tournaments will all remain unchanged.

We are also adding some fun new layers to the home game club for RecPoker Premium Members, and some great new prizes for players to win – all for free, of course!
