  • Call or fold with AA?

Posted by bagman54 on February 21, 2023 at 2:05 pm

Should I have folded? $1/$2 cash; $250 effective except for short-stack MP. UTG+1 I raise to $20 with AA (tight image). MP with $75 stack calls; CO calls. Flop is Q88. I bet $30; MP shoves remaining $55 (has 10’s); CO tanks and shoves, covers me. He’s a LAG, could easily have AQ, KQ, etc. I tank and call: He has 87o and wins with trips. Did I make a bad call?

A bit more info on your read of the players. Is this live or is this online?

Generally, you’ve invested $50 and been jammed on for 8xish your bet, admittedly after action in between.

I think the in between action is irrelevant, since your stack is not in jeopardy.

The info you have is that the raiser likes his hand enough to put you all in.

Online, fold all day. Live, depends on how you view the raiser.

I’d likely fold as described, but subject to change with more info.

Just ask, what do I beat when no one narrowed their range much, but all your money is at stack.

<div>This was live poker. I was fairly new to the table and all I knew about the player was he was aggressive. You’re making me realize that he would have bet less with Queen; shove means the nuts. Thanks for your input.
