  • Getting greedy or right play?

We sattied into a $215 ACR tournament flight for the Sunday million. About halfway through the flight. We have very few hands on our V, but over 18 hands they’ve been active (33VP/50RFI). We’re 43 bb effective and they cover us. We open 7c7d from the LJ. Main V calls from the CO. And we go to the flop heads up.

Flop is 3d9s9c. We bet small (1/3 pot) and get called. Turn is 4c. Now we bet 6bb into pot of 11 and get called again. River is the 7h.

Pot is now 22bb. We have 33 behind. How are you approaching this river?

(In actual play, I led out for 23bb, just over pot targeting a 9x holding. V folded. But I’ve been wondering if this was a bad play. I think we might get raised on the Turn by a lot of V’s 9x, so V is probably more weighted toward some weird 3x holdings and more likely hands like 55, 66, 88, TT, and JJ. Is this a spot where we should be leading smaller to target those pocket pairs and if they did play 9x that way, we might even induce a jam? If so, how small are you leading out? Or are you ever checking this spot to induce?)

I go for a typical value size because it’s basically impossible for you to have many bluffs on this board when you use a polarized sizing. He can’t have many combos of 9x so I would rather get some value from his small pairs. Actually, it might even be a good spot for a small bet hoping he’ll spazz out with a 9 or turn a small pair into a bluff and rip it.
