ICM Implications with a Boat
Posted by jbach71 on November 7, 2020 at 10:16 amThis hand was 3-handed with 1 player on life support
Big MTT with a normal prize pool…regular pay jumps.
Hero in the BB with 30 BB and J5 offsuit
UTG limps leaving 5 BB behind
SB completes with 45 BB Behind
Hero checks
Flop comes QQ8 rainbow and checks around
Turn is a 5 – SB checks, Hero bets 2BB into 3.5BB pot, limper folds and SB calls
Pot is now 7.5BB
River is another 5 and SB shoves
What do you do?
Call with a chance to be in a dominant position?
Fold, keeping 28BB Stack and villain near 50BB?

Final board is QQ855. Hero has J5o.
Hero loses to Qx and 88. It’s a chop pot vs 5x. Hero beats Ax.
I really don’t see SB jamming with anything that Hero beats. Best case is Hero chops.
Short stack only has 5bbs. This is an ICM fold.

I agree with Binkley. These spots stink. But you just cannot bust here.
