With 19BBs, you limp the Small Blind w/ Jack 6 suited.
The Big Blind raises to 3BB.
You have 18 hands on him.
    VPIP- 39
    PFR- 33
    3BET- 22
    Cbet Flop- 2/2
    Cbet Turn- 1/1
    Your move.

I prefer a flat here. It kind of depends on our opening strategy, but if we’re limping hands like J6s, we’re likely limping most of our non-premium suited hands. We have aggro opponent stats, but not enough hands to take that much into account. So let’s think about BB range (who is also short). BB should be raising some of their premiums (hands like A7s+, KTs+, 77+, AJo+, KQo) and if they’re kind of good, they’ll also have a little bit of absolute garbage in there (T3o, Q2o etc.). But my experience is that people are weighted more toward the value than the garbage. And a lot of opponents will ship some of their Axo and smaller pocket pairs, so we can discount some of those too.

If we ship with J6s, are we doing this with a ton of our other suited hands? Q8s? T7s? 65s? And if so, we’re doing this far too often against what could be a pretty strong range. This is especially true if our opponent can’t have much of that garbage (like T2o).

With that in mind, I like a flat. Our hand has some potential, let’s see where this goes. We’ll have 16bb left. There’s not a huge difference in those stacks if we have to give this up. And we’re more likely to get stacks in ahead if we play this more passive line preflop. So I’m flatting this spot.

If I’m going to play this hand I’d raise instead of limp. Given the limp I would fold to the raise. Given the stack sizes I have to ask myself if I want to risk 12bb on this hand and it’s a no for me.

Since I’m just getting back into things I’m sure I will get a lot wrong but having accountability is important to learning so here we go:

    Pot odds
Put in 2 to win 6.85 which is around 3.425 to 1. So roughly 22.5 % break even.

I put opponent’s range (definitely where I’m likely wrong as I don’t know about big blind defense really) for 3 bet: 66+,A8s+,A5s,K8s+,Q9s+,J9s+,T9s,98s,87s,A8o+,KTo+,QTo+,JTo

Maybe they don’t raise with the very top and just call. With this range I got 34.27% equity from equilab. So I am definitely not folding. As far as a 4 bet vs call. If you 4 bet to 6BB then you need at least 34% equity (9.85/5=1.97:1 or 1/2.97) which is about what you are at based on my range.

Some percent of the time they fold too so a 4 bet seems good to me here. As far as how much to 4 bet, I have no clue how to think about that at this point in my journey.

I also likely got something wrong even with equilab and a calculator. So in the moment I likely would have called b/c just getting the pot odds correct would have been taxing my current abilities in time to play the hand.
