  • Squeezing from the SB

Nothing really interesting about the hand, but I think this is a spot that a lot of recreational players choose to call. I think this is the type of spot to put in the 3 bet squeeze. Then we see the 4 bet! What are your thoughts?

    Yatahay Network – 120/240 NL (8 max) – Holdem – 8 players

    Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

    UTG+1: 84.19 BB

    MP: 90.63 BB

    MP+1: 111.8 BB

    CO: 158.01 BB

    BTN: 94.9 BB

    Hero (SB): 74.38 BB

    BB: 59.84 BB

    UTG: 78.02 BB

8 players post ante of 0.13 BB, Hero posts SB 0.5 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 2.5 BB) Hero has As Qd

fold, fold, MP raises to 2.5 BB, fold, fold, BTN calls 2.5 BB, Hero raises to 10 BB, fold, MP raises to 28 BB, fold

Looks like a great squeeze spot from the SB. Is my raise size okay?

    Do we call here?

I would say a bigger 3 bet is definitely in order in this spot. I would say 13-16bb would be better to push your fold equity and increase your chances of getting heads up or winning pre. Also lowers your SPR with stacks as deep as they are. Even with the bigger 3 bet size this opponent is still probably be 4 betting but every now and again you run into it. Nice fold!

Always a tough spot! When I’m in this spot I’m always asking myself what can they do this with that I am ahead of. And the answer in this case is, I think, not a lot. AJ suited maybe? I’m a slight dog to any pair, chopping AQ, and fairly well behind AK. Lets say he is doing this with 99+, AQ+. You are 37% according to Flopzilla. You’d be calling 18 BB to win 58.5BB ASSUMING there were no more betting. So I guess you have the right pot odds? But if you don’t hit on the flop and face a C bet what are you going to do? And even if you hit how confident are you? Against most players I’m folding here. His modestly high PF raise number has me a little indecisive though!

But I’m known for being a nit!
