  • Tough, weird one: How would you proceed?

So I’m ITM in a $15 ACR tourney. I have 45BB in the BB with 10c9d. Cutoff barely covers me and opens 2.5bb. I defend. (for the record, I had 43 hands with villain, who had a 19vpip/10pfr/8thrbet). Flop comes Qc10d2c. I check (I would check entire range here) and cutoff checks back. Turn is the 9c. I lead out for 3.5bb. Cutoff check raises to 12bb. I’m very confused now. It’s tough to find a lot of value that can check the flop, but then raise the turn. I have a ton of flushes and straights here where I think cutoff should have few. This could be cutoff trying to play tricky with a flopped set and then overcorrecting with “missed value” mode once the third club comes? I guess it could also be my hand or Q9? On the bluff side, this feels like it is the naked Ac a lot.

In game, I can’t possibly see myself folding this turn, but would you consider it? Also, if we’re not folding, is this a better flat or jam? In game, I decide to flat, hoping that slows V down and we go check check on the river.

River is a brick, the 4s. I check, V jams. ???? Now what?

I like the turn call…if we jam, then only straights and sets would call us…doesn’t seem like a good one pair hand or flush draw would call. When you call turn XR, I’d be hoping for a smaller bet or check on river.

The river is tough, I don’t think a bluff needs to be full pot to get you off a one pair hand. This line sounds like a lot of Q10, KJ, QQ, and 1010. V could have checked flop hoping to let you catch up a bit.

Unless it is a maniac or very aggressive player, I would assume they give up or bet smaller on the missed flush draw.

I’d play it same way you did and fold the river without a better read on the V.
