We are in the first hand of a satellite in which 20% win seats. We are all 120bb deep.

UTG we raise 2.5bb with JJ. Folds to the BU who raises to 8bb. SB fold. BB 4-bet to 25bb. What shall we do?

As played we call. BU jams. BB call. What shall we do?

Would it affect your decisions if this satellite is in ClubGG? In ClubGG you pay a monthly subscription to play as many satellites as you want, for no additional cost except your time. Some players are throwing their entire stack in the middle in the first level with hands like KJo.

Since it is essentially a free roll, you call. If you paid money, It gets closer to a fold given the strength of the cold call. But your goal in a Satt is to find a spot early to get up big a then tighten up. You won’t likely have a better opportunity.

If there is no cost and you are seeing KJ shove 1dt level, we roll. We haven’t wasted anytime on this if it is first hand, if we bust gg.

That context changes it significantly for me. I’m definitely calling this off in this spot where people are just freeroll gambling in these spots and can have weak holdings.

If this is like a big, live satellite to get into a main event of some kind, I’m probably just folding to the cold 4 and not telling anyone. We’ll have better spots and those satties prize tight folds over hero calls.
