  • Venom Hand: QQ (yeah!) and then everyone and their uncle flats (ugh)

I said I’d post this for a few that were watching the stream. This is early in the Venom that I satellited into. Big buy in with a deep structure and long levels. How would you approach this hand?

You gotta hate being out of position. I would definitely check with three players in-position behind me. Based on the action we can assume that there are no overpairs to the queens. There are very few drawing hands that call pre-flop and broadway overcards are not playing this aggressive. That leaves a lot of pocket pairs that just hit sets. I play it the same. Good disciplined fold.

I would never check this flop when playing this deep. I would probably make a 1/2-2/3 pot sized bet and proceed very cautiously if raised, possibly folding depending on size but then again who knows what would happen if we CBet? Facing a lot of action we can probably fairly easily fold here after showing strength with the CBet into 4 players. When we don’t CBet here, we don’t get the information we need to go forward in the hand and are in no man’s hand with our big overpair. Definitely CBet.

Whether it’s correct or not, I’m always c betting here. I think the check from the pre flop aggressor looks weak and almost as though you are giving up on the hand like your A K missed. You don’t define your hand value by checking but will garner further information by cbetting. If the action blows up then you’ve established your standing in the hand. I’m with Petvet on this one.
