  • What do we do with pocket 8s

What do you do here and why?

    Yatahay Network – 300/600 NL (8 max) – Holdem – 8 players
    http://www.pokertracker.com]Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

    MP: 110.26 BB

    MP+1: 30.92 BB

    CO: 36.77 BB

    BTN: 51.36 BB

    SB: 36.68 BB

    Hero (BB): 30.43 BB

    UTG: 62.62 BB

    UTG+1: 65.63 BB

8 players post ante of 0.13 BB, SB posts SB 0.5 BB, Hero posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 2.57 BB) Hero has 8s 8h

fold, fold], fold, MP+1 raises to 2.2 BB, CO calls 2.2 BB, BTN raises to 7.5 BB, SB calls 7 BB, HERO?

No specific notes on any of the players here are their stats so far:

    MP+1 49h 33/22/0

    CO 36h 31/21/6

    BTN 103h 25/14/9

    SB 64h 21/0/0

These spots happen quite frequently and I am not sure how to proceed. Multi-way situations are very confusing to me.

Easy fold. I’ve ran some similar sims here and once it’s opened flatted and 3b our range massively shrinks. We’re usually only going like jj or qq+ and ATs-AJs+ and AQ-AKo.

This is coded like it is a cash game, but the stack sizes are weird and fishy for a cash game.

That said, the effective stack sizes don’t give you the odds to set mine. So, it is jam or fold in my book, but so many people have shown interest in the pot and you don’t want a call (facing a call you are most likely a coin flip at best). So I would fold.

This is mostly a fold for me. I can get behind a jam if we have the perfect storm. We do have one piece of that puzzle in that SB is very passive (with a limited number of hands, yes, but still 0 PFR in 64 hands is PASSIVE). So that is really good. We could dominating or flipping against a lot of this range. We also have a fairly aggro button, but again need more hands and I’d like to see this 3 bet percent a lot higher to really go for this. Basically if I knew button was 3! too wide and SB was passively calling too much, then I could get behind a jam because now we’re mostly against the wide opening and flatting ranges from MP+1 and CO. We might actually get this through in that case and when we don’t, we may not be in that rough of shape. But I don’t think we have enough data or quite enough of those extremes to go for it. So I like a fold.
