This is my first post please let me know if I need to add more information.

    1. $150 Daily at Mohegan Sun – 35 of 87 left – Blinds: 1600 – 800 – 1600

AVG Stack: Approximately 37,000 – 9 People at Table

    Hero – UTG 1 – Approximately 48,000 – Fairly new to table

    Villian1 – High Jack – Approximately 27,000

Villian2 – Button – Approximately 38,000 – Player had recently doubled up twice to get back to AVG stack

    UTG – Fold

Hero with A,K Clubs – Raise to 4000

    Folds to Villian1 – Calls 4000

Folds to Villian2 – Goes All In for 38,000

Folds to Hero – What should hero do with AK suited?

    2. 1/2 Cash Game – 9 players

    Hero – SB – $405

Villian1 – UTG – $26 – Limited English – Understands card combinations but has been betting odd increments often with single pair hands on wet boards frequently losing

Villian2 – HJ – $460 – Easily the best player at the table. Regular possibly Pro at very least a strong recreational player

5 Players limp to to hero holding 5,7 off suit. Hero calls based on completes blind, poor judgement and lastly why the hell not.

    2 Blinds completed.

    Flop is 4,6,8 rainbow.

Hero checks as first to act to hide strength and allow for other betters.

Checks to Villian1 UTG who bets 11 leaving 15 behind.

Folds to Villian2 who raises to 27.

Folds to Hero – Flat or Raise? If raise how much?

Will post follow up by Friday.

Hand 1 – I prefer to go all-in here. We want to isolate Villain 2. Since villain one just called he is probably not strong enough to call villain 2’s all-in, but we will disincentivize it by jamming over the top. Villain 2 has just the right stack size to squeeze all-in so his range will include a lot of hands that we have dominated.

Hand 2 – I would raise to 70 or 75 with the goal to get all-in against villain 2. I see the merits of calling and under representing the strength of our hand, but there are a ton of turn cards which can kill our action or reduce our equity. I keep hearing Chris Jones say “a straight never improves” so let’s get the money in now.

Pretty much in agreement with Rob. Jamming there feels like he is trying to take the pot right now rather than bleed you with AA or KK and I am happy to take the ride vs a pocket pair and hoping I am against AQ or AK. I dont see the other Villian coming along after a call 90% of the time.

Hand two – Im with Rob but i like the lower sizing of 70. Feels like the ahort stack is coming with us and a less than pot bet and jam river (if the board runs clean… still lets us get all the money in by river).

In fact I did exactly as Rob suggests on both. For the Tournament hand I went all in over the top of Villian2 and villian1 folded. I figured I was up against pocket 9s through Qs or AK, AQ or suited KQ. The villian2 had QQ and the flopp did not have any cards over an 8. If I was closer to the money I would have folded.

In the cash game I raised To 75 at which point both Villians quickly folded. I laughed told them I flopped it and showed them my cards. Villian2, the more skilled player said I should have just flatted since I had the nuts. I raised to 75 for two reasons the first is because of Chris Jones. The only hands that could improve over the current nuts belonged to the Villians. The second reason was that the hands were limped preflopp. I was not worried about villian1 because he did not have a stack that could hurt mine. The more skilled Villians stack made my stack the effective stack. Given that he is more skilled than most I figured I could discount mist of the good higher hands including pockets pairs above an 8, suites connectors 7,8 and above and anything JQ unsuited and above. Therefore hands that could be included could have hit this flopp including sets, 2 pair, open ended straights all of which could easily improve to full house or higher straights.

In conclusion I did not feel that I played either wrong. I thought they were interesting hands. I appreciate Rec Poker as it has helped my game and made me more confident in the decisions I make at the table. The pod casts make my drive home much more enjoyable. Thank you.

I’d definitely be happily jamming on the first one. We cover both and have a great hand. It won’t hit sometimes, but loves to see all five cards.

For the second hand, I don’t know about this Chris Jones guy, but I like the cut of his jib if he’d also raise here. This is a limped, multiway pot that is already getting expensive. We have the nuts and some people who seem engaged with the pot. Let’s raise while we can still know we’re ahead!
