This week Rob Washam and the RecPoker RECing Crew interviewed Lexy Gavin-Mather and discuss her pivotal role in poker, her poker training site, and her new book, “Mastering Small Stakes and No-Limit Tournaments,” detailing her writing journey. The conversation then delved into her study methods, such as group study and private coaching, emphasizing opponent exploits and adapting strategies for different player types. Lexy highlighted the benefits of private coaching and her plans for a women’s course to empower female players in poker rooms.
The discussion also touched on note-taking strategies, recording hand histories, and preferred poker venues, with an emphasis on understanding human behavior and exploiting opponents’ errors rather than strict adherence to GTO strategies. They discussed challenges in poker coaching, emphasizing realistic guidance and managing expectations.
