Amazing! Thanks, guys 😊

I haven’t done a lot of poker-specific trips, but I’ve done plenty of traveling. Here are my go-to tools:
Hotels.com offers good deals on tons of properties. You earn a free night every 10 days and that doesn’t have to be within one family of hotels. You also get even better rates when you use them frequently and level up to Silver or higher.
Priceline offers attractive rates if you use their nameless ‘Express Deals’, especially last-minute. They allow you to book a a type of lodging (ex. 4.5-star Casino Hotel) in a particular neighborhood (or a section of the Strip in Vegas) rather than a specific property.
For example… 10/20-10/21, 4.5-star Casino Hotel, Strip Central West. The zone appears to include Caesars Palace, Bellagio, Cosmopolitan Marriott, and Planet Hollywood. The rate for this group is $174 compared to $199-$339 if you were to book a specific property. You’ll usually get the cheapest option (Caesars, in this case) but sometimes you get a much nicer property from the group. Savings either way and a great option as long as you don’t need to stay at an exact property.
Airbnb/VRBO are great tools for bespoke lodging. Just be sure to click all the way into the payment page to see all the fees. Some places charge hefty cleaning and service fees that really inflate the total price.
Hilton.com offers discounted rates after only a few stays using their free membership program, but you’re limited to their sometimes-pricey properties.
Hope it helps – happy traveling!

Nice call! I’m not sure I’ve ever been put to the test like that with a such a big overbet near a bubble. Looks like your observation paid off. 💪

Nothing booked, but Mrs WebsiteMark and I might head out for part of it. My only possible targets are going to be the dailies or the lowest buy-in bracelet events.
For what it’s worth, Park MGM is a very pleasant stay (though a little bit of a walk to Bally’s/Horseshoe/Paris).
Warning: Travelodge right across from Aria is definitely not worth the modest savings under any circumstance. ::shutter::

Thanks @SirGasleak and @Ep1ct3tu5!
For those wondering, I doubled once after that, but then quickly got hit with a nasty series of back-to-back events… blinds up, SB, BB+BBA, table break and sat in the BB+BBA again. In a flash, I’m under 10bb, pick up 77 and run it (unsuccessfully) into AT. 🤢
I’ll get ’em next time…

Betting on myself and it would be fun to duel my good buddy, Jim!

@rabman50 Biggest Bluff is a very interesting book. I would recommend it if the group is looking for a bit of a change-up that is less technically minded.

So easy to get in marginal spots out of position. Would folding SB and BB 100% of the time actually be better EV than the way a lot of people defend them?

Booked crazy cheap flights and the Rio or first week of October ????
Hoping to win the Reunion and become a gazillionaire.

That’s a really good point… There should definitely be a purpose and intention behind it.

My pleasure! Less spent on hotels is more that can be leveraged at the tables 😉

Still fine-tuning, but I think this only works in the original post of each discussion (or thread).

That’s helpful, thanks! I’m not sure I’ve ever hit a flop so hard while at the same time being sure that my hand wasn’t much good as-is.
I’ve since run some of this through Equilab and I was doing well against their presumed range (61% equity) on the flop and much further ahead if there were any lower suited connectors in their range. I was a little behind their actual hand (47%) though.
If you’re in the villain’s shoes, do you call the shove holding AA on such a connected board?

Yeah, definitely looking forward to meeting up while there. I might bring some small WebsiteAMP giveaways for RecPoker peeps too ????
I’ve never been to the Rio. “Mrs. WebsiteMark” and I expect to have a great time.

Me too. The Reunion and Colossus look mighty enticing to me… you know, since they don’t cost a fortune to enter ????

That sounds like what I’ve heard from Choctaw in Durant, OK. They’ve been running 6-player with huge wait times for a month or so.
