Ok heres the hand enough dancing around it lol

I would say a bigger 3 bet is definitely in order in this spot. I would say 13-16bb would be better to push your fold equity and increase your chances of getting heads up or winning pre. Also lowers your SPR with stacks as deep as they are. Even with the bigger 3 bet size this opponent is still probably be 4 betting but every now and again you run into it. Nice fold!

Well I’m no wizard but this is a tough spot. I think without having any info on the villain I would lean towards a call, however depending on the buyin and the opponent I might find a tight fold. My issue is trying to find bluffs. Maybe a random club draw on the turn that they get frisky with? Also it’s such a small three bet pre most players are fairly nutted.

Just popping back in on this hand. @EANDERSON85 Thanks for the reply! I ended up folding. I couldn’t find enough bluffs. Funny the hand I posted last week was KJs on the button! I see a pattern..

I really don’t mind calling on the flop to see what my opponent does on the turn. I find a lot of players stab on the flop and then check on the turn when they get called, even aggressive opponents will slow down. Once they pot the turn its so polar and there is no way for our hand to improve unless we hit one of the two tens. We unblock flush draws without having a spade which is nice but if they had a flush draw I don’t know if they chose a pot sized bet. @PetVet makes fun of me for being sticky but I think even for me I’m folding the turn.

Couple more thoughts. He slightly covers me so I can’t win his bounty but he can win mine. He has already picked up a bounty but we have very similar stacks. The thing is if we shove and win it sucks when he jams the next hand and we have to contend with the other players isolating for the bounties. However if we do win we will have a big stack in the tournament and a good chance of making a good run. Also we will cover other players at our table and increase our chances of winning future bounties.
From what I have read about bounty tournaments the goal is to win bounties early and treat the later stages the same as a regular MTT with the same ICM considerations

I like a min open and calling a shove from either player. Ideally the BB, you could consider raise folding vs the sb but it feels a bit tight. Having a limping range for these situations could also be a way to go when on a short stack.

I agree with everything you said espically when it comes to having a third player in the hand. Flatting ranges in the SB or CO are a concern in this hand. I assumed that the SB or CO would be betting a lot of flops so once it checks through Im a little less worried. All the flush draws brick so yes I can imagine that other players are probably calling with an ace and that was not really what I was targeting to fold. Pocket pairs between 55 and 1010 is more what I was hoping to fold out along with some kx. I was very surprised when Steve folded an ace, I figured he was just going to call down and I still would’ve had chips left so it wasn’t for my tournament life. I still think I have all the straights and sets on this board in the BB so I have a decent nut advantage. But yes its fun to bluff Steve hahaha

Yes both the big stacks are yet to act in this example

Ok I like it!
Let’s say table average is 25bb. Two 40 blind stacks, one other stack at 15bb and the rest at the average excluding ourselves of course with 15.
No obvious reads at the table but let’s say nobody is concerned with ICM or they have very little knowledge of it.
Hopefully this helps!

I don’t have exact numbers but we can make some up for fun!
Let’s say bottom 20% of the field in stack size and lots of short stacks under 10bb

Im excited to play some satillates for this one!!

I called they had 88s

I’m going to try and add in some more three bets to my game especially if I’m in position. I can’t remember how I did in this one so it could have been anything too crazy. I’ll try and post a hand this week in the forums

Thanks Steve,
Your insight on the life choices really helps put things in perspective. Really the only tournament I don’t feel total confident in is the $1050 and it would certainly help my bankroll if I sold it so the choice is really hard to make.
I think for me personally I love the idea of making a deep run and possibly making a large score and the degen deep down is screaming at me to play. I think if I sold it someday I would think back and say “what if?” I’ve never liked that feeling and even if it’s a risk and even if I donk it off at least I can say I played in a 1k online tournament! Plus it would be great content for the forums 😉

Ok thats really good stuff Chris and I think there is a few LwP videos out there that I’m going to revisit

That is a really good point about adjusting and I have had some big comebacks in other heads up matches but I find in the home game I was tending to be a little gun shy because its a winner take all. The thing is I hate loosing lol. So I want to make sure that I give myself the best chance to do just that. And some of the time I guess we still coolered.
